107b71f128 Resolves Issue 763
Editing bans will now report the duration correctly.

Known issues:
The ban system looks like something my cat threw up.

df75514318 Preparations for minds - Part3.
Replaced mob/var/original_name with datum/mind/var/name.

Halved the speak-chances of every simple-animal because that constant squeaking was insufferable.

0225ed33b7 Cleanup of proc/helpers.dm
Split a bunch of procs in helpers.dm into new files:
-helper_list
-helper_text
-helper_type2type

These files are sorted into groups internally. Hopefully people will make it easier for people to find useful procs.

I've added comments to a good chunk of these procs as well explaining what they do.

I've removed a few unused or unnecessary procs and fixed up a couple that were not working as intended.

I've also moved a mob proc 'get_equipped_items()' into mob/inventory.

All of the non-helper.dm files (besides mob/inventory.dm) are the result of fixing duplicate procs. It seems that there used to be text searching procs where one was case sensitive and one was not, and at some point someone removed the case-sensitivity of the case sensitive procs. I've re-added the case-sensitivity and as a result, I've had to go through extra files and ensure that they were calling the proper proc.

d403ae7cb1 -Fixes an unreported bug, where the equipment on wizards/nukeops/headrevs/cultists wouldn't appear until you picked up an item (Fixed by calling the appropriate icon update)
-Fixed the issue with cookies not appearing mobs until they picked up something
-Now when you are in the process of suiciding, Life() will treat all breaths as failed and you will take more oxyloss than someone in crit that isn't suiciding (Instead of being in crit forever because you could still breathe just fine).
-Fixed a pretty dumb bug in human life, where you would be treated as dead at -100 health, but you didn't die until you hit -101. This mostly caused issues with oxyloss, because once you hit -100 you stopped breathing, but were still alive.
-You can no longer put borg items on monkies, and while I was at it I made directionals for their handcuffs

a9eabb0561 Created global lists for hair and facial_hair datums since they are referenced frequently. This means those datums are only ever created once. Also, the list is indexed by hairstyle name. This means means we only need to store one variable to find the hair datum. It also means admins can change h_style and f_style to the name of the hair and use the Regenerate Icons function in viewvars to update a human's hair icon. If an incorrect f_style or h_style is input it won't affect anything adversely (besides hair not showing for that mob).
The hub will no longer report admins who are stealthminning.

Added a server byond_version check. All it does is tell you if your byond_version is below RECOMMENDED_VERSION and encourages you to update BYOND.

Underwear and bag lists are now a single global list rather than creating the same list for every new player.

c4dc6fcb0b Committing this because I just merged it into Facepunch code for like the 49548083603th time ;_; - Added the ability to ban somebody by IP-address when giving permabans.
It's not quite as well done as I'd like it but it works and can be helpful.

IP bans are kinda lame so please only use them for multikeyers/extreme-douchebags and such.

8658a64dc3 -Redid admin_list to be based off clients rather than mobs (Why I did it with mobs first, I'll never know). This fixes AdminWho and Asay and such not working pre-game.
-Added in the proper list stuff for changeling stasis
-Added a verb to the debug list (Game Admin+) to check the mob lists instead of requiring the item (Works the same way)

f908a610b7 - If someone enters the name of an AI or the word 'AI' in an adminhelp, a (CL) link is displayed along with the others, which is a shortcut to the 'check laws' secret panel button.
- The 'check laws' secret panel button now outputs AI laws, cyborg laws and also pai laws. It used to just be AI laws.

7bf6788082 -OPTIMIZATION TIME
-Almost every instance of 'for(mob in world)' has been killed. Because GODDAMN was it being run a bunch. Instead, a series of global lists have been made, and they are all handled auto-magically through New()'s, Del()'s, Login()'s, death()'s, etc...

Lists are as follows:
-mob_list : Contains all atom/mobs by ref
-player_list : Like mob_list, but only contains mobs with clients attached
-admin_list : Like player_list, but holds all mobs with clients attached and admin status
-living_mob_list : Contains all mobs that ARE alive, regardless of client status
-dead_mob_list : Contains all mobs that are dead, which comes down to corpses and ghosts
-cable_list : A list containing every obj/structure/cable in existence
Note: There is an object (/obj/item/debuglist) that you can use to check the contents of each of the lists except for cables (Since getting a message saying "a cable," x9001 isn't very helpful)

These lists have been tested as much as I could on my own, and have been mostly implemented. There are still places where they could be used, but for now it's important that the core is working. If this all checks out I would really like to implement it into the MC as well, simply so it doesn't check call Life() on every mob by checking for all the ones in world every damn tick.

Just testing locally I was able to notice improvements with certain aspects, like admin verbs being MUCH more responsive (They checked for every mob in the world every time they were clicked), many sources of needless lag were cut out (Like Adminwho and Who checking every single mob when clicked), and due to the cable_list powernet rebuilding is MUCH more efficient, because instead of checking for every cable in the world every time a powernet was broken (read: A cable was deleted), it runs though the pre-made list, and even with a singulo tearing all the way across the station, the powernet load was VERY small compared to pretty much everything else.

If you want to know how any of this works, check global_lists.dm, there I have it rigorously commented, and it should provide an understanding of what's going on.

459c558898 -Make holodeck eswords a child of obj/item/weapon/holo instead of regular eswords, clumsy check removed as a result, and you can no longer do things like cutting through walls or doors or what have you. (Fixes Issue 665)
-Redid icons to be more optimized at compile by setting icon = 'icons/folder/icon.dmi' instead of just icon = 'icon.dmi', meaning that Dream Maker doesn't have to search through every single file for every single .dmi. This shouldn't lead to any errors because of how I went about it, plus the fact that Dream Maker would have freaked out if I screwed something up. Also moved around 2 icons that weren't sorted well.

c94b35dc00 Added a very stripped-down version of player-notes I made a while ago for a ban system. It's very no-thrills as it was intended merely as storage for the various parts to reference.
I've pretty much stripped everything, added a switch to obj/admins/Topic and linked to a simple browser interface from the player panels.

It's just a single buffer per ckey. You can use the [+] and [-] links to add/remove notes. Clicking the ckeys will allow you to navigate between player notes. They are listed chronologically.

Their main perk is also their main flaw, they are only a single buffer, which is fast and small. But it kinda means playing with the format won't update existing notes. If you have any complaints about the format please make them known soonish.

Reverted ghosts getting mob attack logs and moving the ghost verb to clients
- This should fix the ghosting issues, but it's possible I've missed something. If there's any problems ping me(Nodrak) in #coderbus on IRC and I'll fix it.
- Attack logs moving to ghosts would be an amazing feature, it's not that admins can't get that information already but it makes it much easier. If it can be implemented without all of these bugs, it'd defiantly be an asset

80b15df54b ** Mob Define Cleanup: Part 1 **
I'm currently working on moving all of the vars in mob_defines.dm and some procs in mob.dm into more fitting places. For example, ghosts and simple animals can not be cloned, so they do not need a cloneloss var. Cloneloss would be better fitting to /mob/living or even /mob/living/carbon.

By moving these defines into proper children of /mob we lower the amount of resources that must be set aside every time a mob is created and we lower the amount of data that gets transfered between mobs when we combine, transfer or transform them. In theory, this should help free up some resources and combat lag.

Due to how integrated some of these defines are in the rest of the code, I'm going to be committing this cleanup in small batches. Doing it this way instead of one massive commit means that bugs will be easier to locate and identify. It is also less likely to overwhelm players with bugs, and if it still does, it will make it easier for us to revert only the section that is causing problems. Smaller commits also means merging with existing code will be less of a nightmare and has less potential for merging mistakes.

One of my goals in this cleanup is to add a description to every single variable in mob defines. While some of them are self explanatory, there are some there that are used in horribly obscure ways on top of having no comment to describe their use.

-----------------------

Mob defines moved to living:
- last_special*
- bruteloss
- oxyloss
- toxloss
- fireloss
- cloneloss
- brainloss
- halloss
- hallucination
- hallucinations(list)

*Note: I believe this variable is not needed, but the code it is used in (the resist verb) is cluttered and messy. That chunk of code probably use a re-write. I'll put it on my TODO list and if I survive mob_defines I'll try to get around to it but if anyone wants to do it for me, that would certainly help!

-----------------------

Mob procs moved to living:
- getBruteLoss()
- adjustBruteLoss()
- getOxyLoss()
- adjustOxyLoss()
- setOxyLoss()
- getToxLoss()
- adjustToxLoss()
- setToxLoss()
- getFireLoss()
- adjustFireLoss()
- getCloneLoss()
- adjustCloneLoss()
- setCloneLoss()
- getHalLoss()
- adjustHalLoss()
- setHalLoss()
- getBrainLoss()
- adjustBrainLoss()
- setBrainLoss

Mob procs moved to carbon:
getDNA()
setDNA()

-----------------------

Mob verbs moved to carbon:
- Sleep
- Lay down / Get up

-----------------------

The : operator...

The thing that has been killing me through this whole cleanup is people using or copy/pasting the : operator everywhere.

*** Please use obj.var_or_procname. Do not use obj:var_or_procname ***

Using obj:procname will not throw a compiler error if obj does not have that specific var or proc. This means that the coder making changes will NOT be informed of an error which will result in a proc failing, potentially being completely unusable and definatly causing a runtime error.

With that said, I fully anticipate that most bugs (if any) caused by this mob define cleanup to be the result of : operators.

I've been replacing many : operators in favour of the . operator as I've been going, most noteably I went out of my way to remove almost every : operator from the 4000+ line Chemistry-Regents.dm
Exceptions:
- Water: Turf and Atmos related vars. I'm not familiar with the members and methods in those class' hierarchy.
- Silicate: because it's commented out and I honestly dont see it returning.
- Thermite: Turf and Atmos related vars.
- Corn Oil: Turf and Atmos related vars.

Final note: While this may be the source of some mob-related bugs, there are two other revisions that have been committed between now and the last time either of the the two tgstation servers have been updated. These revisions both touch mob-related files. I'm not blaming these other revisions for anything, especially since one of them is mine anyway, I'm just listing them here for refrence to help quickly identify any problems.
- My human/life() changes in r3925
- Carn's life() standardizations in r3933

Stuff unrelated to mob defines:
- Fixed borgs and such being able to go into DNA modifiers.
- Changelog updated and I added Sieve to the list of coders.

9a94312431 - Added spam-prevention code. If someone sends the same message 5 times in a row, they will get the message "You are nearing the spam filter limit for identical messages." If they continue to send the same message (if they send it 10 times in total) they will get an auto-mute for the channel they are sending it through. The number of identical messages which triggers a warning and automute can be configured in setup.dm
- Added channel-specific admin muting. Admins can now mute someone from IC (say, me and whisper), OOC, PRAY, ADMINHELP (adminhelp, admin pm and asay) and DEADCHAT (say while dead and dsay)
- Added a (?) to adminhelps and prayers which displays the same quick overview that all the other (?)-s show, but for the person adminhelping or praying.

ab734d0472 - Coded in a debug report feature for the master controller. If the MC's delaying loop does not pass within 600 iterations (roughly 60 seconds) it means the procs are likely broken. A warning + report is displayed to admins as well as it being saved to the admin log.
The MC Delayer in the screenshot is an item coded for testing purposes which simulates a proc break. It is not part of this commit. Clicking on it will open up the view variables panel for the item.

8961bd96d0 WARNING: This has been thoroughly tested and I'm happy that it's -stable- (it shouldn't runtime). However, it might have a few niggly bugs caused by specific items using no-standard or weird code. Most bugs will be stuff like it not updating overlays and such and can be fixed simply by dropping the item. That being said, if you're not comfortable with this, I'd suggest waiting to update past this revision.
update_clothing() has been broken up into it's key parts. A full explanation can be found in code/modules/mob/living/carbon/human/update_icons.dm
the tl;dr of it is that overlay updates are no longer called by the gameticker. Instead they are called by procs such as u_equip db_cick etc. This means faster updates (although admittedly, more of them can be called per tick). This however is offset by the fact that specific overlays can be updated now, vastly improving its efficiency. This will especially help when there are large numbers of dead mobs.

Fixed the throw code for TKgrab so it can be toggled.

Cloaking for aliens/humans/ninjas was changed. It's very crude at the moment and for that I apologise. But it works and is very efficient.It also stops cloaked individuals becomming invincible due to people being unable to hit them (even when they know exactly where they are)

Fixed a bunch of bugs with damage-overlays. They were updating FAR FAR to frequently. They were also horribly inefficient. They should now be virtually seamless when updating and only use cached icons, so they aren't affected by lag as badly. This may help with explosions lag a little.

There's still a tonne of stuff I need to refine with this. I'll be refining it down into some helper procs to reduce on code duplication and such

- Please use MAX_NAME_LEN instead of typing in 26 when cutting inputs short. 26's are annoying when they have to be changed and you have to hunt through over a hundred files and tens of thousands of lines of code to find them all.

Moved uplink_kits.dm to code/game/objects/storage

Moved uplinks.dm to code/game/objects
- The stuff inside uplinks.dm could really be chopped up and split into separate dm files but this will do for now.

When you create code that asks the user for an input consider whether or not it gets shown to the user through html or the like.

If it does please sanatize() or strip_html() it. Also use copytext() to cutoff spam by using MAX_NAME_LEN and MAX_MESSAGE_LEN as the cutoff var.

e89e7acdb3 Fixed issue 411. (Thanks Yvarov- http://nanotrasen.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=8651)
Added Invisty's new field generator sprites.

Added a button to check antagonists that stops the world from automatically restarting at round end.
It's toggleable, but once the round ends with it on, you'll need to reboot the world manually. (It's under check antagonists because that's where the shuttle stuff is, let me know if I should move it.)

aa65f68d2b - Additional admin verbs and links will now display an ingame message to admins when used:
- rudimentary transformations from the player panel
- give spell
- make sound
- kill air
- make alien
- make metroid
- grant full access
- assume direct control
- select equipment
- spawn xeno
- gib will now log even when gibbing yourself
- gibself
- change view range
- call shuttle
- cancel shuttle

- Also removed the 'stabilize atmos' verb. I noticed it had all of it's code commented out, so it literlaly did not do anything.

eec06043da - Added a rudimentary transformation section to the options panel (show player panel verb). This allows rudimentary mob type changes to any mob. These are however generic and non-mob-specific, as they only copy over some of the most needed variables, such as the three name variables, dna and mind. They do not, for instance, create a MMI for cyborgs. A note of this is also added to the player panel.
- Once you click one of the links a popup will appear asking you whether you'd like to delete the old mob of the player (yes or no) or cancel this transformation.

a9365d38e1 - Redesigned the options panel (show player panel verb) to be less terrible. Screenshot: http://www.kamletos.si/options%20panel.PNG
- Made some changes to admin verbs:
- Rejuvenate verb removed from mobs, is now in the options panel above (heal).
- Drop everything verb moved into view variables, added a confirmation message.
- Mute verb removed from mobs, use the options panel.
- Warn verb removed from mobs, use the options panel.
- Grant full access moved to debug verbs.
- Rejuvanate as a verb also still exists in debug verbs.

These changes were made to make right clicking a mob not show a million unneeded verbs. They were moved based on the statistics gathered via feedback logging:
http://www.kamletos.si/tgdb/latest_stats.html#adminverbs

Please post any additional feedback on the admin forum.

515d422b66 Fixed dust() and gib() leaving invisible overlays everywhere
Fixed deaths at the end of nuke rounds, optimised the code a little

gib() is now hgib() (ie it's specific to humans). gibs.dm() now only spawns generic gibs that could be from any mob.
Likewise for dust.
Awaiting generic dust() and gib() animations.

Fixed (hopefully, depends if firewalls block this method) getruntimelog.
GameMasters no longer have the getruntimelog verb. Instead they have .giverutimelog . This allows them to grant a specific client access to the server's runtime logs. (they can grant themself access this way too). NOTE: runtime logs can be used to meta, only grant access to coders or people you trust. It may also be wise to ensure they do not play in the current round.

Introducing .getserverlog . It allows any admin above moderator to access ANY archived server/attack logs. Should mkae processing forum ban requests a lot easier since all admins with ban capabilities now have access.

getruntimelog renamed to .getruntimelog . File-request spam prevention increased to 60seconds to discourage access serverlogs too much! They can reach sizes of 4Mb sometimes so please be responsible with them admins.

runtime logs should now be saved to /data/logs/runtime/ (you may have to create this folder yourself)

ummm... fixed gibs appearing below shuttle turfs. Trimmed some uneeded fluff text from the logs.

1d4b40d915 Added the foundations of a special-day events system. It's a bit more robust, tidy and efficient than calling isDay everywhere. It defaults to disabled. It can be enabled by uncommenting ALLOW_HOLIDAYS in config/config.txt
I've added no content just the foundations. All it does is give the station a holiday themed name and say "Happy [Holiday] Everybody!" at the round-start.

Added a .Set Holiday verb for GM and GA Admins. I'd rather people didn't use it for now (there's not much point as there's no content yet anyway). It's mainly for bugtesting.

Foundations are there to create holiday random events and round-start stuff so we can keep everything together. Check out code/game/gamemodes/events/holidays !

NOTE: This is intended for easter eggs! Little trinkets and such to make these days special. It IS NOT for spawning grief items and game-changing stuff. If you REALLY want to add stuff like that, please speak to the project heads. If it's used for spawning bullshit like poop or grief items I'll just remove my code. Thanks.

Happy Friday 13th :)

Other Fixes:
Oxygen tanks no longer spam BEEPBEEPBEEPBEEP at everybody nearby. That only happens for the person holding them.

04f0a79866 Rewrote blackholes (gravitational anomalies) and wormholes to try and optimise them a little. If you have any concerns about how I've done so just give me a shout and I'll either rework them or revert my changes back. Wormholes especially seem a bit faster on my laptop. Smoke has temporarily been removed from the blackhole event until I get time to investigate why the hell effect_systems are using so much memory ( spark effects were using 40% of my processor a second ago D: ). To compensate this I made them a new sprite.
Commented out the authentication system. It was the remnants of the old goon authentication stuff (or maybe even older) and wasn't actually used in our code at all (at least not in any useful way, it was merely called and short-circuited to 1, so all those if(authenticated) were totally pointless. This has removed 3 unused variables from every client, a bunch of unused variables from the config and two empty text files!

Committed (as a config option) a feature requested by Apoc station. It causes a 'reply to' window to popup when an admin PMs a non-admin player. It's meant to grab their attention so they can't say "I didn't see your PM". It defaults to off. To turn it on just uncomment the #POPUP_ADMIN_PM line in config/config.txt

Fixed a derp in isday where it was fetching the month instead of the day.

Removed medal references from Gib()

Removed the medal_hub global variables because they aren't used in any way shape or form.

3385621585 Adds randomlly spawning rooms to the mining asteroid that contain various goodies. (Among them are a modified traitor beacon, a cloaking device and a closet full of resources so you can go build your own honk.)
These rooms will spawn at least out of range of space and the explored pathways, so at the very least some mining is required to even detect them with mesons.
Adds a borg upgrade system. Right now, it just contians a borg reset module that allows the borg to choose their module again. Adds some support code to borgs to suppot flashproofing and renaming.
Adds a few various admin commands like a quick-list of objects (which is hardcoded) and a command to break the local air group.

c03c775c8e Minor touch-ups to the shiny new job-ban interface
Antag job-bans should now work correctly for the role assigner thingy at the start of a round.
Removed the Malf-AI job-ban option, as it was a pain to implement and wasn't really worth it.

9fc0fe564f Updates handheld-flashes so that they cannot break on their first use. Their chance of breaking is directly proportional to their frequency of use (ranges from 0% to 5%, used to be a blanket 2%). Their capacitor recharges one charge every 60 seconds. Once their 6 charges are used up, they temporarily stop working whilst their capacitor recharges. This should mean that flashes will last a long time with light use (defence/rev), but not for spamming (shitcurity).
Can now job-ban people from entire departments through the jobban panel.
Can now job-ban people even if they log out.
Job-ban panel now informs you why people were banned from each job.
Runtime fixes for some old jobban code that was preventing the above stuff.

- Added a link to the secrets panel that allows the changing of the bomb cap to: 14, 16, 20, 28, 56, 128

Bomb cap is calculated:
devestation range = bomb cap * 0.25
high damage = bomb cap * 0.5
low damage = bomb cap
flash = bomb cap * 1.5

0a80f91f2c Added Spacevines to the random events. Added a spawn space-vines option to the secrets panel.
Fixes issue 250 (borg door bug)
Fixed silicon interactions with engineering equipment.
Fixed access lists for radiation collectors, so locking them actually serves a purpose. Fixed using crowbars on them.
Borgs can name themselves upon module selection (unless a roboticist has named them previously by using a pen)
To avoid Borgs griefing and then changing their name by selecting a module, borgs are now unable to move independently until they choose a module.
New sprites for spacevines are on the way. So you'll have to tolerate my crappy stand-ins for a bit until he is finished with them.
