Fix modsuits and defibs (#93373)

moves abstract_type up to datum, spawners wont spawn them (#92909)

Crafting refactor, implementing materials (#89465)
My original plan was to just implement materials into crafting so that items would inherit the materials of their components, allowing for some interesting stuff if the material flags of the item allow it. However to my dismay crafting is a pile of old tech debt, starting from the old `del_reqs` and `CheckParts` which still contain lines about old janky bandaids that are no longer in use nor reachable, up to the `customizable_reagent_holder` component which has some harddel issues when your custom food is sliced, and items used in food recipes not being deleted and instead stored inside the result with no purpose as well as other inconsistencies like stack recipes that transfer materials having counterparts in the UI that don't do that. EDIT: Several things have come up while working on this, so I apologise that it ended up changing over 100+ files. I managed to atomize some of the changes, but it's a bit tedious. EDIT: TLDR because I was told this section is too vague and there's too much going on. This PR: - Improves the dated crafting code (not the UI). - replaced `atom/CheckParts` and `crafting_recipe/on_craft_completion` with `atom/on_craft_completion`. - Reqs used in food recipes are now deleted by default and not stored inside the result (they did nothing). - Renames the customizable_reagent_holder comp and improves it (No harddels/ref issues). - Adds a unit test that tries to craft all recipes to see what's wrong (it skips some of the much more specific reqs for now). - In the unit test is also the code to make sure materials of the crafted item and a non-crafted item of the same type are roughly the same, so far only applied to food. - Some mild material/food refactoring around the fact that food item code has been changed to support materials. Improving the backbone of the crafting system. Also materials and food code. 🆑 refactor: Refactored crafting backend. Cyborgs now use storage datum (#90927)
This moves Cyborgs onto using storage datums, removing the remenants of the shitcode that was Cyborg inventory. It's now done mostly by equipping/unequipping/storage items, much like how other mobs do. This allows borgs to take advantage of more hand support stuff and things like ``dropped()``, so borgs no longer have to copy paste drop code to ``cyborg_unequip`` It also: - Removes ``CYBORG_ITEM_TRAIT`` - Removes all borg items being ``NODROP`` https://github.com/user-attachments/assets/11442a10-3443-41f2-8c72-b38fb0126cdb Currently borgs are able to have their entire inventory open and a bag below it, which I thought was a little weird. Melee attack chain now has a list passed along with it, `attack_modifiers`, which you can stick force modifiers to change the resulting attack This is basically a soft implementation of damage packets until a more definitive pr, but one that only applies to item attack chain, and not unarmed attacks. This change was done to facilitate a baton refactor - batons no longer hack together their own attack chain, and are now integrated straight into the real attack chain. This refactor itself was done because batons don't send any attack signals, which has been annoying in the past (for swing combat). 🆑 Melbert refactor: Batons have been refactored again. Baton stuns now properly count as an attack, when before it was a nothing. Report any oddities, particularly in regards to harmbatonning vs normal batonning. refactor: The method of adjusting item damage mid-attack has been refactored - some affected items include the Nullblade and knives. You can now interact with held mobs beside wearing them (feat: "minor" melee attack chain cleanup) (#90080)
People can now pet held mothroaches and pugs if they want to, or use items on them, hopefully without causing many issues. After all, it only took about a couple dozen lines of code to make... ...Oh, did the 527 files changed or the 850~ lines added/removed perhaps catch your eye? Made you wonder if I accidentally pushed the wrong branch? or skewed something up big time? Well, nuh uh. I just happen to be fed up with the melee attack chain still using stringized params instead of an array/list. It was frankly revolting to see how I'd have had to otherwise call `list2params` for what I'm trying to accomplish here, and make this PR another tessera to the immense stupidity of our attack chain procs calling `params2list` over and over and over instead of just using that one call instance from `ClickOn` as an argument. It's 2025, honey, wake up! I also tried to replace some of those single letter vars/args but there are just way too many of them. Improving old code. And I want to be able to pet mobroaches while holding them too. 🆑 qol: You can now interact with held mobs in more ways beside wearing them. /🆑 |

Heart Attacks are More Violent, and You Can Defib People Repeatedly to Fix Them Like in a Medical Daytime TV Show Drama (#89775)
## About The Pull Request This overhauls nearly all aspects related to heart attacks, making them more urgent and threatening. It also enables the use of defibrillators for quicker, less invasive treatment of heart attacks. They are now a status effect instead of a virus, with a fixed countdown of about two and a half minutes before full stoppage. As this timer counts down, symptoms steadily escalate from audio cues to suffocation and dizziness. Through treatment, the countdown can be wound back and eventually cured (or you can just swap the heart like usual. Boring!!). ### Treatment Replacing the heart is no longer the *only* option for treatment. Now, heart attacks can be cured with the use of a defib. Each shock will rewind the countdown (and symptoms) heavily, curing it after 2-4 zaps in quick succession. In lieu of a defib, most other shock sources will work, albeit much less effectively. So, if you're in security and *really* don't feel like going to medical, you can just have your fellow officers taze you back to health!  The emergency penthrite given after the attack has a new icon/message, and is slightly less forgiving. You can still use it to shock yourself back to life, still being a very risky move. The heart attack doesn't manifest on medical HUDs immediately. It only appears after the victim has reached stage 3 for the first time. At stage 3, it's pretty apparent to both the victim and anyone around that they're having a heart attack anyways, but until then it will be on the victim to identify symptoms. Heart attacks will always be reported on health analyzer scans, shown as the organ failing due to a myocardial infarction and a tooltip suggesting defibs/other shocks to treat it. This also adds two tips, for secoffs and medics, on how to treat a heart attack. Defibs also now use up charge for restarting a stopped heart, instead of only when reviving a corpse. ## Why It's Good For The Game Making heart attacks more of a threat gives way more weight to something people should be afraid of, but aren't. Heart attacks fail to emulate anything resembling a heart attack, to the point that it is lame and dissapointing. They're an annoyance and a trip to the surgery room for anyone familiar enough with the game. This iteration may be more dangerous, but it's also more *exciting* (and can be treated faster). Broadening the ways to treat a heart attack, or just stave off symptoms, gives an amount of player agency over this threat. It may be more urgent, but it doesn't mean it has to be a trip to medbay every time. You can look for other ways to get zapped (security will help if asked, I promise) or sandbox up your own solution. Also, treating heart attacks with defib shocks just makes sense. Why do we have to trash the whole heart? Usually after a heart attack it still has like, a year or so of juice left before it quits for good. More threatening heart attacks also further incentivize synthetic hearts and working out, or any other clever ways of shielding oneself from an attack (in case you're paranoid like that). And lastly, the whole reason I started with this PR in the first place -- I think it is a bit odd having heart attacks be handled as *diseases* in the code. Refactors how item actions are handled (#89654)
## About The Pull Request This PR tackles our piss-poor item action handling. Currently in order to make an item only have actions when its equipped to a certain slot you need to override a proc, which I've changed by introducing an action_slots variable. I've also cleaned up a ton of action code, and most importantly moved a lot of Trigger effects on items to do_effect, which allows actions to not call ui_action_click or attack_self on an item without bypassing IsAvailible and comsigs that parent Trigger has. This resolves issues like jump boots being usable from your hands, HUDs being toggleable out of your pockets, etc. Also moved a few actions from relying on attack_self to individual handling on their side. This also stops welding masks/hardhats from showing their action while you hold them, this part of the change is just something I thought didn't make much sense - you can use their action by using them in-hand, and flickering on your action bar can be annoying when reshuffling your backpack. Closes #89653 ## Why It's Good For The Game Makes action handling significantly less ass, allows us to avoid code like this ```js /obj/item/clothing/mask/gas/sechailer/ui_action_click(mob/user, action) if(istype(action, /datum/action/item_action/halt)) halt() else adjust_visor(user) ``` |

The death or internal/external organ pathing (ft. fixed fox ears and recoloring bodypart overlays with dye sprays) (#87434)
## About The Pull Request This PR kills the abstract internal and external typepaths for organs, now replaced by an EXTERNAL_ORGAN flag to distinguish the two kinds. This PR also fixes fox ears (from #87162, no tail is added) and mushpeople's caps (they should be red, the screenshot is a tad outdated). And yes, you can now use a hair dye spray to recolor body parts like most tails, podpeople hair, mushpeople caps and cat ears. The process can be reversed by using the spray again. ## Why It's Good For The Game Time-Green put some effort during the last few months to untie functions and mechanics from external/internal organ pathing. Now, all that this pathing is good for are a few typechecks, easily replaceable with bitflags. Also podpeople and mushpeople need a way to recolor their "hair". This kind of applies to fish tails from the fish infusion, which colors can't be selected right now. The rest is just there if you ever want to recolor your lizard tail for some reason. Proof of testing btw (screenshot taken before mushpeople cap fix, right side has dyed body parts, moth can't be dyed, they're already fabolous):  ## Changelog 🆑 code: Removed internal/external pathing from organs in favor of a bit flag. Adds a new power storage type: The Megacell. Drastically reduces power cell consumption/storage. [MDB Ignore] (#84079)
## About The Pull Request As the title says. A standard power cell now only stores 10 KJ and drains power similar to how it did before the refactor to all power appliances. The new standard megacell stock part stores 1 MJ (what cells store right now). APCs and SMESs have had their power cells replaced with these megacell stock parts instead. Megacells can only be used in APCs and SMESs. It shouldn't be possible to use megacells in any typical appliance. This shouldn't change anything about how much 'use' you can get out of a power cell in regular practice. Most should operate the same and you should still get the same amount of shots out of a laser gun, and we can look at expanding what can be switched over to megacells, e.g. if we want mechs to require significantly more power than a typical appliance. Thanks to Meyhazah for the megacell icon sprites. ## Why It's Good For The Game Power cell consumption is way too high ever since the power appliance refactor that converted most things to be in joules. It's a bit ridiculous for most of our machinery to drain the station's power supply this early on. The reason it's like this is because regular appliances (laser guns, borgs, lights) all have a cell type that is identical to the APC/SMES cell type. And it means that if we want to provide an easy way to charge these appliances without making it easy to charge APCs/SMESs through a power bug exploit, we need to introduce a new cell type to differentiate between what supplies power and regular appliances that use power. This is primarily what the megacell stock part does. This moves us back to what it was originally like before the power refactor, where recharging power cells wouldn't drain an exorbitant amount of energy. Mouse drag & drop refactored attack chain (#83690)
## About The Pull Request Mouse drag & drop has been refactored into its own attack chain. The flowchart below summarizes it  Brief summary of each proc is as follows **1. `atom/MouseDrop()`** - It is now non overridable. No subtype should ever touch this proc because it performs 2 basic checks a) Measures the time between mouse down & mouse release. If its less than `LENIENCY_TIME`(0.1 seconds) then the operation is not considered a drag but a simple click b) Measures the distance squared between the drag start & end point. If its less than `LENIENCY_DISTANCE`(16 pixels screen space) then the drag is considered too small and is discarded - These 2 sanity checks for drag & drop are applied across all operations without fail **2. `atom/base_mouse_drop_handler()`** - This is where atoms handle mouse drag & drop inside the world. Ideally it is non overridable in most cases because it also performs 2 checks - Is the dragged object & the drop target adjacent to the player?. Screen elements always return true for this case - Additional checks can be enforced by `can_perform_action()` done only on the dragged object. It uses the combined flags of `interaction_flags_mouse_drop` for both the dragged object & drop target to determine if the operation is feasible. We do this only on the dragged object because if both the dragged object & drop target are adjacent to the player then `can_perform_action()` will return the same results when done on either object so it makes no difference. Checks can be bypassed via the `IGNORE_MOUSE_DROP_CHECKS` which is used by huds & screen elements or in case you want to implement your own unique checks **3. `atom/mouse_drop_dragged()`** - Called on the object that is being dragged, drop target passed here as well, subtypes do their stuff here - `COMSIG_MOUSEDROP_ONTO` is sent afterwards. It does not require subtypes to call their parent proc **4. `atom/mouse_drop_receive()`** - Called on the drop target that is receiving the dragged object, subtypes do their stuff here - `COMSIG_MOUSEDROPPED_ONTO` is sent afterwards. It does not require subtypes to call their parent proc ## Why It's Good For The Game Implements basic sanity checks across all drag & drop operations. Upstream power stuff combined and shit (#27284)
* Converts arbitrary energy units to the joule. Fixes conservation of energy issues relating to charging cells. (#81579) Removes all arbitrary energy and power units in the codebase. Everything is replaced with the joule and watt, with 1 = 1 joule, or 1 watt if you are going to multiply by time. This is a visible change, where all arbitrary energy units you see in the game will get proper prefixed units of energy. With power cells being converted to the joule, charging one joule of a power cell will require one joule of energy. The grid will now store energy, instead of power. When an energy usage is described as using the watt, a power to energy conversion based on the relevant subsystem's timing (usually multiplying by seconds_per_tick or applying power_to_energy()) is needed before adding or removing from the grid. Power usages that are described as the watt is really anything you would scale by time before applying the load. If it's described as a joule, no time conversion is needed. Players will still read the grid as power, having no visible change. Machines that dynamically use power with the use_power() proc will directly drain from the grid (and apc cell if there isn't enough) instead of just tallying it up on the dynamic power usages for the area. This should be more robust at conserving energy as the surplus is updated on the go, preventing charging cells from nothing. APCs no longer consume power for the dynamic power usage channels. APCs will consume power for static power usages. Because static power usages are added up without checking surplus, static power consumption will be applied before any machine processes. This will give a more truthful surplus for dynamic power consumers. APCs will display how much power it is using for charging the cell. APC cell charging applies power in its own channel, which gets added up to the total. This will prevent invisible power usage you see when looking at the power monitoring console. After testing in MetaStation, I found roundstart power consumption to be around 406kW after all APCs get fully charged. During the roundstart APC charge rush, the power consumption can get as high as over 2MW (up to 25kW per roundstart APC charging) as long as there's that much available. Because of the absurd potential power consumption of charging APCs near roundstart, I have changed how APCs decide to charge. APCs will now charge only after all other machines have processed in the machines processing subsystem. This will make sure APC charging won't disrupt machines taking from the grid, and should stop APCs getting their power drained due to others demanding too much power while charging. I have removed the delays for APC charging too, so they start charging immediately whenever there's excess power. It also stops them turning red when a small amount of cell gets drained (airlocks opening and shit during APC charge rush), as they immediately become fully charged (unless too much energy got drained somehow) before changing icon. Engineering SMES now start at 100% charge instead of 75%. I noticed cells were draining earlier than usual after these changes, so I am making them start maxed to try and combat that. These changes will fix all conservation of energy issues relating to charging powercells. Closes #73438 Closes #75789 Closes #80634 Closes #82031 Makes it much easier to interface with the power system in the codebase. It's more intuitive. Removes a bunch of conservation of energy issues, making energy and power much more meaningful. It will help the simulation remain immersive as players won't encounter energy duplication so easily. Arbitrary energy units getting replaced with the joule will also tell people more meaningful information when reading it. APC charging will feel more snappy. 🆑 fix: Fixes conservation of energy issues relating to charging powercells. qol: APCs will display how much power they are using to charge their cell. Inducers So I removed the `open` check. Allowing both Inducers and Suit Storage Units to charge mods without needing you screwdriver their panel open first. Like opening the wires panel with a multitool, in this case. Even if `can_change_cable_layer` were to be false and thus the object would never actually care about having this interaction, it'd _still_ block it. So we don't do that. But what _do_ we do? In general, we simply move all item interactions from `attackby(...)` to `item_interaction(...)`, split each item interaction off into a separate proc, and make them all return the proper item interaction flags. We _do_ kill some probably dead code, and remove a call to `attackby(...)` elsewhere. Then, for clarity, we move the cell check below the ID check so it can be next to the other item type checks, as the priority between cell and ID is unlikely to matter anyway. Other than what's described above and detailed below, each section's functionality should be the same. Now, for the parts that _do_ need to be explained more. ### Killing Probably Dead Code Alright, so, the first part that does not have the cleanest transition. https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/blob/d38f9385b863e49f83455a227764d302629e2867/code/modules/power/apc/apc_attack.dm#L22-L23 Whatever the fuck this is. Asking around, this seems to just be dead code. For sanity's sake removing it and testing, silicon interactions with it seem to work just fine. So we kill it. We just kill it. We Just Kill It. Closest we could find requires the distance check there to be false, so it wouldn't apply. But it _does_ bring us to the second bit of weird code. ### Calling APC Attackby Elsewhere? So wallframes let you screwdriver them to put them up, which from a comment seems to be because of cyborgs. APC wallframes of course override this with their own implementation, that allows you to also replace a damaged cover or frame like that! https://github.com/tgstation/tgstation/blob/d38f9385b863e49f83455a227764d302629e2867/code/game/objects/items/apc_frame.dm#L29-L39 ...By just calling the wholeass `attackby(...)` proc on the APC and calling it a day. That should be all. Remember to get snacks and drinks. ## Why It's Good For The Game Split off 178 line `attackby(...)` item interaction chain into separate procs called in `item_interaction(...)`. Screwdrivering APC wallframes no longer calls the wholeass `attackby(...)` on the APC, but just call the new sub-proc for the specific interaction it cares about. ## Changelog 🆑 refactor: APCs have had their item interaction chain refactored. This should functionally be the same, but please report any issues. /🆑 * [NO GBP]Cells will only consider 0.1% of their charge when shocking a user. (#82456) ## About The Pull Request Makes cells only consider 0.1% of their charge when calculating the damage for shocking someone. This makes the minimum damage 20, and goes up to 22 (previous behaviour, even though that's a shockingly small difference) with a 50 MJ cell, which is the highest capacity crew can get. This makes it inversely scale with the standard cell charge define, so if that gets changed, cells will use a different composition of their charge to consider. ## Why It's Good For The Game Airlocks instantly critting people when shocked regardless of what's in the grid wasn't previous behaviour. * Oops. Converts arbitrary energy units to the joule. Fixes conservation of energy issues relating to charging cells. (#81579)
## About The Pull Request Removes all arbitrary energy and power units in the codebase. Everything is replaced with the joule and watt, with 1 = 1 joule, or 1 watt if you are going to multiply by time. This is a visible change, where all arbitrary energy units you see in the game will get proper prefixed units of energy. With power cells being converted to the joule, charging one joule of a power cell will require one joule of energy. The grid will now store energy, instead of power. When an energy usage is described as using the watt, a power to energy conversion based on the relevant subsystem's timing (usually multiplying by seconds_per_tick or applying power_to_energy()) is needed before adding or removing from the grid. Power usages that are described as the watt is really anything you would scale by time before applying the load. If it's described as a joule, no time conversion is needed. Players will still read the grid as power, having no visible change. Machines that dynamically use power with the use_power() proc will directly drain from the grid (and apc cell if there isn't enough) instead of just tallying it up on the dynamic power usages for the area. This should be more robust at conserving energy as the surplus is updated on the go, preventing charging cells from nothing. APCs no longer consume power for the dynamic power usage channels. APCs will consume power for static power usages. Because static power usages are added up without checking surplus, static power consumption will be applied before any machine processes. This will give a more truthful surplus for dynamic power consumers. APCs will display how much power it is using for charging the cell. APC cell charging applies power in its own channel, which gets added up to the total. This will prevent invisible power usage you see when looking at the power monitoring console. After testing in MetaStation, I found roundstart power consumption to be around 406kW after all APCs get fully charged. During the roundstart APC charge rush, the power consumption can get as high as over 2MW (up to 25kW per roundstart APC charging) as long as there's that much available. Because of the absurd potential power consumption of charging APCs near roundstart, I have changed how APCs decide to charge. APCs will now charge only after all other machines have processed in the machines processing subsystem. This will make sure APC charging won't disrupt machines taking from the grid, and should stop APCs getting their power drained due to others demanding too much power while charging. I have removed the delays for APC charging too, so they start charging immediately whenever there's excess power. It also stops them turning red when a small amount of cell gets drained (airlocks opening and shit during APC charge rush), as they immediately become fully charged (unless too much energy got drained somehow) before changing icon. Engineering SMES now start at 100% charge instead of 75%. I noticed cells were draining earlier than usual after these changes, so I am making them start maxed to try and combat that. These changes will fix all conservation of energy issues relating to charging powercells. ## Why It's Good For The Game Closes #73438 Closes #75789 Closes #80634 Closes #82031 Makes it much easier to interface with the power system in the codebase. It's more intuitive. Removes a bunch of conservation of energy issues, making energy and power much more meaningful. It will help the simulation remain immersive as players won't encounter energy duplication so easily. Arbitrary energy units getting replaced with the joule will also tell people more meaningful information when reading it. APC charging will feel more snappy. ## Changelog 🆑 fix: Fixes conservation of energy issues relating to charging powercells. qol: APCs will display how much power they are using to charge their cell. * Updates examine text for Nukie & ERT defibs (#79806) ## About The Pull Request Description of these two items tells you how to attack people with them, but it's outdated and tells you to use disarm or aggressive intent. Since those aren't part of the game any more, I changed it so it tells you to use combat mode instead.
